ast week amongst many pencils, crayons and (a few) tears, SHORT was launched in Melbourne. SHORT is a colouring book-come-artbook released by Via Alley's publishing arm, VA Editions. The books came about when one of VA Editions' editors, Ed Davis, couldn't find anything quite right to give his two little girls. He went on to contact a huge range of artists who in turn contributed colouring templates for SHORT. Princess Tina's Beci Orpin, Mike Giant and Stefan Marx are all within the pages. If you are in Sydney, SHORT launches this Sunday May 4 at Black & Blue Gallery in Redfern from 3pm-6pm, please come and have a Ribena with us!

Kamon are Japanese symbols of time past, derived from patterns of natural phenomenon: the stars, moon, rivers and mountains. Over time, they have been altered and modified, like dividing cells, into new iconic forms.

As a collective, Kamon Design engineer ancient Kamon into modern works of art. Designers Keiichi Tanaami, Masaru Ishiura, Namaiki, Marok and Naohiro Ukawa take pieces of the codified past and translate it into a new present, their books, prints and animations creating a Kamon kaleidoscope that evolves before the eye.

Apocalyptic landscapes devoid of human existence, built environments and architectural relics all lurk ominously beneath a fading paradise. The aspect of time blurs the boundaries between fantasy and fiction, and histories both real and fabricated, pertaining to mysterious phenomena and science fiction.

Andre aka Monsieur A aka Mr A is one of the most renown French graffiti artists. The Parisian tags and paints a character in either pink or black that he firstly created on the streets of Paris which then quickly appeared all over the world. The character is named Mr A - which Andre has chosen to represent himself on the street. Mr A is a character with big round head, (which ended up being the body as well!) a big smiley mouth, a winking eye represented by an X on the face with most sporting top hats.

The Quiet Life is a small project from Los Angeles that is run by Andy Mueller and Jennifer Pitt. The Camera Club is a project The Quiet Life started because they love photography. They wanted to create a place online where photographers from around the world, of all levels, could submit their own, favorite photos, to become an instant member of the Club.

Mist was born in Paris in 1972 and discovered "graffiti art" in 1988 on his way to school, where he studied design for 4 years. He then learned sculpting in a collectible figures company for one year.

Mike Mills has done many graphic works and CD sleeves designs. The logo of X-Girl is his work, for example. The collaboration works with Sonic Youth, Cibo Matto and Beastie Boys are well known. He is also very active in many fields, such as in a music band and film making.

Born in 1965 in Tochigi prefecture, Japan, Yukari Miyagi started her career as a freelance illustrator in 1992. Her works appeared in magazines, books and other media. She published "Reminiscence" as a private edition in 1998. She went on to publish "Chichi" in 1999, and "ambrosia" in 2002. In 2004, a Swiss independent publisher Nieves published her zine "Kaguya, the bamboo princess."
