Tatebanko - hiroshige - hakone

Tatebanko is the largely forgotten Japanese art of paper diorama. Developed in the Edo period, the paper pieces all bit disappeared in the 20th Century. Now however, this simple and beautiful construction is making a comeback.

The uphill trek to Hakone station was known as one of the most hazardous spot in Tokaido route. Travellers are climbing up the last narrow stretch up to the station. The tower crag and range of colors with Mt.Fuji standing gently behind the lake in contrast istruly magnificent.
